This page is written for patch 6.2
If you haven’t yet read up on how to prepare your character head over to the Preparation Guide to Proving Grounds. There you can study up on talent and glyph choices, the arena, your party and most importantly; the enemies.
Clear time; 10min
Wave 1; Skull (Duration; 0:35)
- Large Illusionary Flamecaller
- Small Illusionary Ripper
Wave strategy; An easy start that should not give you any problems. When the wave timer gets closer to zero, prepare yourself for the next wave by standing at cross. If you feel brave, you can help kill the adds in Crane stance.
Wave 2; Cross (Duration; 0:45)
- Large Illusionary Aqualyte
- Small Illusionary Hive-Singer
Wave strategy; If the previous wave is still active, the rogue will not interrupt the Hive-singer and the task will fall on you. Use Spear Hand Strike or
Leg Sweep to interrupt the Hive-Singer during this wave.
Detox all
Aqua Bombs when they appear.
Wave 3; Skull (Duration; 0:40)
- Small Illusionary Hive-Singer
- Small Illusionary Tunneler
- Small Illusionary Ripper
Wave strategy; Once again, stand ready at the spawn place and interrupt the Hive-Singer if needed, followed by Xuen. Be ready with 3 chi when
Chomp appears on an ally and quickly get rid of it with
Soothing Mist +
Enveloping Mist, or possibly a
Thunder Focus Tea buffed
Surging Mist.
Wave 4; Cross (Duration; 0:55)
- Large Illusionary Flamecaller
- Large Illusionary Tunneler
- Small Illusionary Ripper
Wave strategy; Flamecaller initial cast needs to be interrupter AS SOON AS HE SPAWNS. If he casts Invoke Lava unhindered, there will be pools of lava on the floor that your allies most likely will step in it and take damage. Do not let that happen. Be ready to burst heal if an ally get both
Pyroblast and
Chomp at the same time.
Wave 5A; Skull (Duration; 1:05)
- Large Illusionary Aqualyte
- Small Illusionary Tunneler
Wave 5B; Cross (Spawns at 0:50)
- Large Illusionary Hive-Singer
- Small Illusionary Flamecaller
Wave strategy; If you have people topped off for this wave, the initial Chomp can easily be healed. Be ready for heavy tank damage from the Aqualyte. When the Flamecaller spawn, interrupt him immediately. When the Hive-Singer is active, use
Chi Explosion, and if needed also use
Detonate Chi to heal you closest allies if
Sonic Blasts get through. Remember to interrupt!
Wave 6; Circle (Duration; 0:55)
- Small Illusionary Ripper
- Large Illusionary Conqueror
- Small Illusionary Ripper
Wave strategy; This wave has high tank damage (and the Hive-Singer from the previous wave is still around a bit longer). Focus the tank and cast Life Cocoon when the Conqueror
Enrages.
Wave 7; Skull (Duration; 1:05)
- Large Illusionary Tunneler
- Small Illusionary Conqueror
- Small Illusionary Hive-Singer
Wave strategy; Be ready to interrupt the Hive-Singer and handle Chomp when it appears. Make sure to cast
Xuen on the Hive-Singer.
Wave 8; Cross (Duration; 1:05)
- Large Illusionary Flamecaller
- Small Illusionary Conqueror
Wave strategy; Relatively easy wave. Just have everyone topped up for the next one.
Wave 9A; Triangle (Duration; 1:20)
- Large Illusionary Conqueror
- Small Illusionary Flamecaller
- Small Illusionary Hive-Singer
- Small Illusionary Aqualyte
Wave strategy; This is the hard wave. Note that the waves spawn at different places than the usual. Place yourself accordingly and interrupt the Flamecaller. Be ready with Life Cocoon on the tank when
Enrage is activate on the Conqueror. You have 15 seconds before the next part-wave spawn. Place your statue at Square, that’s where you’ll meet up. Do not run too far though, your tank will take heavy damage and will need your attention.
The damage will be quite high overall and I recommend to use Revival to counter that.
Wave 10A; Circle (Duration; 1:30)
- Large Illusionary Conqueror
- Small Illusionary Tunneler
Wave 10B; Moon (Spawn at 1:10)
- Small Illusionary Flamecaller
- Small Illusionary Aqualyte
Wave 10C; Diamond (Spawn at 0:50)
- Small Illusionary Conqueror
- Small Illusionary Hive-Singer
Wave strategy; Focus the tank since it will be quite heavy damage when the Conqueror Enrages. Cast
Xuen as the next adds appear and keep focusing tank. The Conqueror will probably manage a second Enrage while the Hive-singer is up.
Life Cocoon will be off cooldown by then.
Strategy Breakdown
This difficulty is significantly harder than Silver. The 9th and 10th waves spawn all over the arena while you will have Sonic Blasts to take care of while the tank takes heavy damage. It is more vital than ever to interrupt the Hive-Singers. Create a macro to easily interrupt them even when it is hectic. The new enemies are Tunneler and Conqueror. Read up on them in the enemy section of the Preparation guide.
Spell Strategy
- If you can manage, try to use cheap spells like
Soothing Mist as often as possible.
- Use
Renewing Mist,
Expel Harm and
Zen Sphere on CD.
- Always place your
Jade Serpent Statue close to the group.
- For heavier single-target damage use
Enveloping Mist or a
Thunder Focus Tea charged
Surging Mist.
- For heavier AoE damage, use
Chi Explosion in melee clump (
Detonate Chi for burst) and spot heal the rest (Do not use
Uplift, since it has limited efficency).
Cooldown Strategy
Enemy Strategy
- Interrupt Hive-singers’
Sonic Blast.
- Cast
Xuen on the Hive-singers in the designated waves.
- Flamecallers’
Invoke Lava needs to be interrupted as soon as he spawns.
- Interrupt Flamecallers’
Pyroblast as often as possible.
- Dispel Aqualytes’
Aqua Bombs before they explode.
- Aqualytes do heavy tank damage, focus Oto when they’re up.
- Focus
Chomp-affected targets and get rid of the debuff as soon as it is up. Either with
Soothing Mist and
Enveloping Mist.
- A
Thunder Focus Tea charged
Surging Mist.
- Conquerors do heavy tank damage, focus Oto when they’re up.
- When Conquerors
Enrage, use
Life Cocoon on tank on the designated waves.
Use your cooldowns meticulously. One slipup and you might now have it later when you need it.
And keep trying until you get there!
