New Beta Build and Azerite Interface

A new build has been dropped on the beta! It’s a bit light on mistweaver changes, but the azerite armor has finally gotten its spanking new interface. Here are the relevant changes for any curious mistweavers!

Mistweaver Changes

  • Surging Mist (Honor Talent) now heals for 200% of attack power, up from 32.76%.

Azerite Traits

  • NEW Font of Life
  • Misty Peaks now has a chance to grant haste based on ticks rather than jumps. It also has increased duration of 10 sec, up from 8 sec.
  • Tier 1 – Monk – Mistweaver – Vivify <DNT> has been name changed to Uplifted Spirits.

New Beta Build – Azerite Traits Changes and Additions

Another beta build has arrived, though there aren’t many mistweaver changes in this one. Instead, we get a sniff of upcoming Azerite Traits that will basically replace tier set bonuses. I suspect we’ve only seen the beginning of Azerite traits so far, and there are likely many more to come. But here’s a preview!

Mistweaver Changes

  • Life Cocoon now absorbs [(((Spell power * 12.6) + 0)) * (1 + Versatility)], up from * 9.
  • Mistweaver Monk passive has been boosted by 40%.
  • Chrysalis (Honor Talent) now reduced the cooldown of Life Cocoon by 30 sec, down from 90 sec.

The Big Mistweaver Feedback Post 3.0

Before I start, I just want to say that I think mistweavers are turning out great for Battle for Azeroth. We have active Soothing Mist back which contributes to a much smoother 5-man rotation, we got new and interesting talents on our talent tree and we’ve become more well-rounded. Nonetheless, there are a few areas that need polishing, which is why I’ve written this post! Let’s go through them together.

Soothing Mist Discussion

Changes since we last discussed it:

  • Soothing Mist  – Each tick of SooM now has a chance to cause a Gust of Mist heal on the target.
  • Undocumented: Soothing Mist has reduced GCD to 1 sec.
  • Undocumented: Thunder Focus Tea is castable while channeling Soothing Mist.

I was going to start this post by appealing to Blizzard to implement a more WoD-style Soothing Mist, but they beat me to the punch. I logged into beta, and lo and behold! You can use Thunder Focus Tea without breaking the Soothing Mist channel AND Soothing Mist has reduced GCD to 1 sec instead of 1.5 sec. That had passed me by completely.

But the new rotation feel so smoooooth, and the added proc of Gust of Mist  was a welcome addition. It’s nice to see our mastery interact with Soothing Mist. I really hope that it has a higher proc chance on lower-health targets!

As I was testing the changes by healing dungeons, I noticed a serious issue though; Mana Tea is a major hassle to use, and here’s why.

New Beta Build – Mistweaver Buffs and Changes!

A new beta build came last night and there are new mistweaver changes implemented based on recent feedback! I’m glad to see that there’s a fruitful discussion between developers and mistweavers. Or at least, I assume so, looking at the changes that keep rolling in. I don’t visit forums very often, I like my happy corner here, but I don’t doubt that there’s lots of good mistweaver feedback from all corners of the internet!

Mistweaver Changes

  • Revival now heals for 200% of spell power, up from 180%.
  • Soothing Mist  – Each tick of SooM now has a chance to cause a Gust of Mist heal on the target.
  • Thunder Focus Tea
    • Renewing Mist: Changed to ‘Increases duration by 10 sec’ from ‘Not triggering the cooldown’ of the next Renewing Mist cast.
    • Enveloping Mist: The extra heal now heals for 250% of spell power, up from 130% (instant EvM aspect removed).
    • Removed Essence Font: Channels 100% faster.
    • NEW Rising Sun Kick: Reduces the cooldown of your next Rising Sun Kick by 9 sec.
  • The cleave heal of Vivify now heals for 60% of spell power, up from 45%.
  • Lifecycles now has 25% reduced mana cost of the next Vivify/Enveloping Mist cast, up from 20%.
  • Rising Mist now heals for 15% of spell power, down from 20%.

The Big Mistweaver Feedback Post 2.0

Another pass has been made to Mistweavers and I still have a lot of feedback to give! So I’m just gonna softball this feedback post to the developers and hope I can contribute with some constructive discussion. I tried to be short and concise, but hah, I don’t have the talent for it.

The Feedback Part

After the last time I made a feedback post, we’ve had an upcoming update on Renewing Mist; it should now automatically jump if you try to overwrite it. Also, it seems that the developers heard us on the Thunder Focus Tea feedback as well:

Original Post, May 2 2018
Quick note – the TFT-Enveloping buff has a new instant heal component added on beta, which you still benefit from if you TFT-Enveloping during Soothing Mist. While this loses part of the value of the buff, it’s still a reasonable option to provide for when an instant heal seems important.

All that said, one concern with the current setup on beta is that TFT-Renewing might dominate the other uses of TFT too often. Some of the exact bonuses it provides may have to be adjusted once everything else settles.

New Beta Build – Mistweaver Changes, War Mode, and More

The Bfa beta was updated last night with a new build. Today we got some minor changes to mistweavers, and a blue post on the new war mode. I got to say, I’m starting to warm up to the idea of world pvp. Always having active honor talents and being able to go full on bounty hunter seems kind of fun!

Mistweaver Changes

Azerite Trait Changes

  • NEW Fit to Burst – Drinking Purifying Brew while at Heavy Stagger causes your next 3 melee abilities to heal you for 360.
  • NEW Misty Peaks – When your Renewing Mists jumps, you have a 10% chance to gain 128 Haste for 8 seconds.
  • Sunrise Technique now has a damage over time aspect.

Renewing Mist Update and Tea Talk

There has been some official follow-up on the issue of Renewing Mist by the developers. Namely, a fix for the very common problem of overwriting them little buggers. I am currently drinking herbal mint tea in celebration and am in the mood for some tea talk.

Official Post, 26-04-2018

Thanks for all the followup on Renewing Mist. In an upcoming beta build, we’re likely going to try having Renewing Mist automatically try to jump, if you cast a new one that would overwrite it.

Why thank you, oh glorious Sigma. Now we can stop competing with our active Renewing Mists for competitive targets, and not to mention, being able to shamelessly cast it on players who actually need our mastery heal as well! I love the smell of victory in the morning.

While I still think mistweavers could use some polish on beta, that was really my biggest issue and I’m incredibly happy that they are planning to fix it. Now I can finally relax and nag about smaller details. As it should be!

The Big Mistweaver Feedback Post 1.0

I have been on the alpha (build 26476) and tried the new mistweaver changes. I hope I’m catching the blizzard developers in one of their class-changing cycles right now, because there’s a lot of feedback I want to give – both good and bad! Here’s hoping that a developer sees this. I’ve tried to be clear and succinct in my feedback, but I’m still me so it’s longer than I planned. Oh, well!

General Impression

Overall, I’m positive about the changes and I think we’re going in the right direction for Mistweavers. So far, I’ve haven’t had the opportunity to raid heal on the alpha, but I’ve done plenty of dungeon healing, so my focus will probably be skewed in that direction in this post. I will go through both positive changes and some of the things I want improved.

New Alpha Build and Mistweaver Talents

Another wave of changes has hit the BFA Alpha. This time around, Mistweavers’ talent tree has been scrambled around, while two old talents are gone and replaced with two sparkling new ones.  Take a look below!

Mistweaver Changes

Talents:

  • Zen Pulse Removed
  • Rising Thunder Removed
  • Essence Well NEW
    • For every 6 sec Essence Font spends off cooldown, your next Essence Font may be channeled for 1 additional second.
The duration of Essence Font’s heal over time is increased by 4 sec.
    • Note: Baseline channel is 3 sec, this talent pushes that to a maximum of 6 seconds (before haste). Once it’s off cooldown, you can see the tooltip changes the channel time. It takes 18 sec to hit the max duration, but it ticks up by the decimals (channel time 3.0 sec, 3.1 sec, 3.2 sec, etc until it hits 6 sec).
  • Rising Mist NEW
    • Rising Sun Kick heals all allies with your Renewing Mist, Enveloping Mist, or Essence Font for (20% of Spell power), and extends those effects by 2 sec.
  • Mist Wrap no longer allows Soothing Mist to be channeled while moving.
  • Many talents have switched places and the talent tree looks like this now:
