Patch 7.2 has launched and oh boy, don’t we have a lot to do in the game? I haven’t been bored this expansion, that’s for sure. Tomb is coming up soon and so does the mini-patch 7.2.5. where we will get more class changes. Here are a few blizzard posts on the subject.
Patch 7.2.5 Mistweaver Blue Posts
On the initial 7.2.5 PTR, we are trying out a version of Essence Font that is even stronger, but has a cooldown. In addition to some combination of a healing increase and mana cost reduction, the duration of the HoT will be increased.
Essence Font having no cooldown has held back the spell and the spec in a few ways. It essentially says that three relatively heavy heals (Essence Font, Enveloping Mist, Vivify) have to compete with each other at all times. The texture of using a heavy spell on a short cooldown, then falling back to the decision between spammable spells (selecting based on cost, number of targets, etc.) is common among healers for good reason. And Essence Font‘s HoT mechanic that improves mastery is meant to specifically enhance that sort of gameplay, and will be more effective on a spell with a cooldown.
As already mentioned, the first change that comes along with it is buffing Essence Font itself. It no longer has to be held back by “if it gets too much stronger than e.g. Vivify, people will only use Essence Font“, and can simply be a high-priority spell. We will made other adjustments as needed for gameplay or tuning.
A lot of changes for Mistweavers has been filtered through the PTR notes, but in bits and pieces. I try to summarize some of the latest changes and news regarding everything Mistweaver in this post. Take a look at what’s in store for patch 7.2 for Mistweaver Monks!
Vivify heals an additional ally (was 3 targets, now 4).
Has been reported by MMO Champion’s datamining, but not Wowhead’s yet.
This was a primarily PvP-focused change. It wasn’t getting much use in PvE (and when it was, that was almost always the wrong choice), and it was giving Mistweavers far too much mobility in PvP, especially in RBGs where it was highly problematic.
We’re obviously aware that this change has balance implications, and are prepared to make any additional changes necessary for Mistweaver PvP performance.
I’ve been looking forward to sharing this for a long time. The past month I’ve been working on some new free UIs and textures for Monks. This is of course part of the update for my blog, which still has a few outdated pages (but a few less now!). These UIs are very simple Elvui profiles with some extra custom art and textures, and I hope you’ll like them!
It’s all for free, but some links lead to my Gumroad store. Just type in 0$ to download the art packages for free, or add a few dollars to show support for my work. Thanks! :)
I’m stuck in PvP swamp. Which is incredibly fun as a Mistweaver! I’ve set my eyes on high prestige levels to get all the artifact looks and mounts, which resulted in a lot of battleground popping. Since there is very little out there about PvP, I thought I’d write down the little knowledge I have (hence the ‘Basic’ in the name). Hopefully, it’ll help you get started!
Admittedly, there are tremendously many great Mistweavers out there that are so much better at me at PvP. However, not much knowledge is written down to easy-to-read guides. For the ones that just need a basic overview, this guide is a great start!
I know it took forever for me to update the Advanced Mistweaving Strategy guide, but in my defense I had no idea what to write until now and didn’t have the time to sit down and figure it out. This is why vacations are awesome!
This time I expound more on the different styles of healing in Mythic+ vs raiding and how you can improve on both accounts. I also give a more detailed account of mana management, since that is usually a big topic in raid settings. The section of ‘What is a good healer’ from the old guide still has valid principles that can be applied to any healer class, and is therefore still in the guide.
As for my own adventures in a Mistweaving world, my guild is currently progressing Nighthold Mythic. I must say, I infinitely prefer the encounters in Nighthold to those in Emerald Nightmare and Trial of Valor and this may or may not have to do with more opportunity for stack healing. And that I got the Legendary trinket. But just maybe!
A slew of new info for Patch 7.2 has been datamined. I have collected and summarized what will be happening for Monks and Mistweavers specifically in this post. More info will be forthcoming!
New Artifact Traits
Some old traits will get more ranks. Remember that now we have 1-3 base traits, but we can add 3 traits with relics, a.k.a. 6 traits max. In patch 7.2 some will get 2 more ranks available (7 & 8), but the max trait for base traits will be rank 5 (+ rank 6-8 if relics are added).
I haven’t been idle while the blog went down! When Misty Teahouse was in limbo, I decided to write a little about Mistweaver legendaries. Mostly about how they work, since it isn’t always obvious by just reading the description.
The page is sub-item to “Mistweaver Guide”, so you’ll find it listed there too. I’ve added more detailed descriptions of what the legendaries do, but since I haven’t been able to test all, I had to do some research on the legendaries that I do not own. Hopefully everything’s accurate, otherwise I’ll update it as needed.
If you have tried to access my blog the past three days, you might have noticed that my blog was nowhere to be found. Through a series of unfortunate events, the Misty Teahouse took a trip to the dark side of the internet. Thankfully, I got it back in one piece through my vast powers of technology… I’m kidding, I called tech-support.
Long story short, a less than a year ago I switched my blog through self-hosted instead of WordPress premium. The subscription for the premium ran out three days ago, which would have been all fine and dandy unless my domain had been part of that otherwise useless package deal. So yes, the domain was deleted, I called support and instead of paying for the whole premium package, I payed only for the domain and they fished it back from techno-limbo. Happy ending!
In more mistweaver-related news, patch 7.1.5 is coming ever closer to release. Here’s a summary of the Mistweaver changes:
Zen Pulse (Talent) now heals and deals damage for 220% of spell power, up from 200%.
Dampen Harm (Talent) now reduces the damage of incoming attacks by 20-50% (depending on how hard attack) for 10 sec. Previously reduced the next three incoming attacks by 30% if they damage 15% of your health or more.
Diffuse Magic (Talent) now has a 1.5 min cooldown, down from 2 min cooldown.
Ring of Peace (Talent) now forms at target location and ejects all enemies out of the ring. Previously formed around a friendly target and knocked back enemies who used harmful spells or abilities.
Healing Sphere (PvP) now has a 15 sec recharge time, down from 45 sec.
Here is a clean version of my personal notes from Ursoc mythic encounter. If you want to add any knowledge or help other players with the encounter, feel free to comment and discuss below!
Urosc charges the player affected by Focused Gaze after 6 seconds. The further away the player is from Ursoc, the less damage the player takes by Trampling Slam. When he hits the player, the raid takes damage by Barreling Impact, which does less damage the more players are standing in it.
Yesterday, my guild finally took down the last boss of the Emerald Nightmare, mythic. And I actually remembered to record this time! Hallelujah! So, if you’re interested in seeing the kill or having a look at my current healer UI, it’s now at your disposal here or at YouTube.
The Emerald Nightmare Journey
Emerald Nightmare has definitely been fast-paced and, from the context of things, rather brief. Part, because EM seems to be a soft start to Legion (it has been indicated that it’ll be a rather long expansion), and hasn’t been the most challenging raid. Probably because tiers doesn’t drop from the raid and no one started with a fully fleshed-out Artifact. I have a feeling that Nighthold might give us more to chew on.
