Endless (30) Strategy

This page is written for patch 6.2

An update for patch 7.0 will be here soon™

If you haven’t yet read up on how to prepare your character head over to the Preparation Guide to Proving Grounds. There you can study up on talent and glyph choices, the arena, your party and most importantly; the enemies.

Proving Grounds Map

Notes about Endless;
  • Each wave has a duration of 1 minute, therefore it takes 30 minutes to reach wave 30.
  • The enemies get the buff Endless WaveEndless Wave that increases their damage with 1% for each wave. Wave 30 does 30% increased damage compared to Gold.
  • Endless has 10 predictable waves that repeat infinitely. After every 10th wave you will have a 15 second break to drink. Then you will meet the same 10 waves, just stronger each time.
  • Clearing wave 30 will reward you the title “the Proven Healer”.
Clear time; 30 min

Wave 1; SkullSkull

  • Large Illusionary Flamecaller
  • Small Illusionary Ripper
  • Small Illusionary Ripper

Wave strategy; This wave is easy. Just interrupt the Flamecaller’s Invoke LavaInvoke Lava and you won’t have to bother about NPCs stepping in fire. If you are adept in the ways of the Crane, you can start in Crane Stance to stack some Mana Tea. Otherwise, just keep healing in Serpent Stance like normal.

Wave 2; CrossCross

  • Large Illusionary Hive-Singer
  • Large Illusionary Aqualyte
  • Small Illusionary Ripper

Wave strategy; In this wave there will be heavy tank damage from the Aqualyte and Ripper, while the Hive-Singer does AoE damage. Cast ability_monk_summontigerstatueXuen on the Hive-Singer and help Ki and Kavan interrupt it as many times as possible. Mostly Ki will interrupt the first cast unless she is otherwise engaged (with the previous wave for example, but low chance of that this early). If you have problem with keeping the tank up there is room to cast ability_monk_chicocoonLife Cocoon, since you will not be needing it again until wave 5. Remember to dispel the Aqua Bombs.

Wave 3; SkullSkull

  • Small Illusionary Tunneler
  • Small Illusionary Tunneler
  • Small Illusionary Ripper

Wave strategy; Two Tunnelers active at the same time will mean two ChompChomps. Be ready for burst healing, especially if both Chomps are on the same target. ability_monk_thunderfocusteaThunder Focus Tea is your friend here. I mainly use it on the tank, a target with two Chomps or myself, but if neither is the case I use it more freely. Remember that you have the most health in the party, therefore you will be the hardest to get rid of Chomp from.

Wave 4; CrossCross

  • Large Illusionary Aqualyte
  • Small Illusionary Aqualyte
  • Small Illusionary Flamecaller

Wave strategy; This is a dispelling match. Because two Aqualytes are active, you will get two Aqua BombAqua Bombs to deal with at the same time. If you have Glpyh of Detox 2Glyph of Detoxing you can dispel them both. If you have spent your charges, try to prioritize. The hunter only does damage on himself which makes him low priority. The melees, tank and rogue, have high priority. If you get the debuff, you can either run out and take the hit yourself or cleanse it with spell_monk_diffusemagicDiffuse Magic. If you get two bombs in melee, use spell_monk_revivalRevival to clear them both!

Wave 5A; SkullSkull

  • Large Illusionary Conqueror
  • Large Illusionary Hive-Singer

Wave 5B; CrossCross (Spawns at 0:40)

  • Large Illusionary Tunneler

Wave strategy; This wave has high tank and party damage. Cast ability_monk_summontigerstatueXuen on the Hive-Singer and be ready with ability_monk_chicocoonLife Cocoon on the tank when the Conqueror casts EnrageEnrage. The Tunneler spawns at cross and often put its ChompChomp on the hunter or the mage at square. This wave can be a bit hectic since you have to deal with a Large Hive-Singer, while Chomp is active, while the tank takes heavy damage. Just deal with each mechanic methodically and you will get through.

Wave 6; CircleCircle

  • Small Illusionary Aqualyte
  • Small Illusionary Flamecaller
  • Small Illusionary Tunneler
  • Small Illusionary Ripper

Wave strategy; This wave can spawn before the Conqueror from the previous wave is down. Just note the timer and place yourself so you can easily interrupt the Flamecaller as soon as he spawns. Make sure to continue to interrupt and stun this entire wave to prevent as much damage as possible. The Aqualyte and Ripper do high tank damage while the Tunneler and Flamecaller keep hitting the party with their respective attacks.

Wave 7; SkullSkull

  • Small Illusionary Conqueror
  • Small Illusionary Conqueror
  • Small Illusionary Hive-Singer

Wave strategy; The tank will take immense damage when both the Conquerors EnrageEnrage, while the Hive-Singer will keep lowering the party health with Sonic BlastSonic Blast. Interrupt the Hive-Singer as many times as possible. The tank is going to need ability_monk_chicocoonLife Cocoon and attention when the Conquerors EnrageEnrage.

Wave 8; CrossCross

  • Small Illusionary Flamecaller
  • Small Illusionary Flamecaller
  • Small Illusionary Flamecaller
  • Small Illusionary Flamecaller
  • Small Illusionary Ripper

Wave strategy; Before this wave spawns, place yourself so that you can easily cast a ability_monk_chargingoxwaveCharging Ox Wave across them. This is to interrupt every Invoke LavaInvoke Lava the Flamecallers cast. I’ve had problems with Flamecallers doing a second cast of Invoke Lava if I interrupt the cast that comes before the channel. If you have the same problem, just wait a moment to let them start channelling before interrupting. It will be a few spots of fire on the ground but it is manageable.

During the rest of the wave, try to interrupt as many FireballFireballs as possible. If too many go through, use spell_monk_revivalRevival to save yourself. Otherwise, save the cooldown for the next wave.

Wave 9; TriangleTriangle

  • Large Illusionary Hive-Singer
  • Small Illusionary Tunneler
  • Small Illusionary Aqualyte

Wave strategy; This is the hard wave. A large Hive-Singer casts Sonic BlastSonic Blast that deals heavy party damage while you have to deal with both ChompChomp and Aqua BombAqua Bomb. Use ability_monk_summontigerstatueXuen on the Hive-Singer for extra heals and spell_monk_revivalRevival if too many Sonic Blasts get through (if you didn’t use it on the previous wave).  Deal with the Aqua Bomb and Chomp as quickly as possible and spot heal those who need it most.

Wave 10A; CircleCircle

  • Large Illusionary Conqueror
  • Small Illusionary Flamecaller

Wave 10B;  MoonMoon (Spawn at 0:45)

  • Small Illusionary Aqualyte

Wave strategy; If you have gotten through the previous wave, then you are pretty much fine. Note that the Aqualyte will spawn a little later across the room at the same time as the Conqueror enrages. Use ability_monk_chicocoonLife Cocoon on enrage and dispel the Aqua BombAqua Bombs. Try to finish off the last add before the timer runs out so that you are out of combat for the 15 sec break. Drink up and get ready for the next ten waves. Rinse and repeat!

Strategy Breakdown

Succeeding in Endless is all about the timing. The timing of your spells and cooldowns, of your interrupts and stuns. A little luck is also needed so the debuffs and random casts do not hit the same target at the same time. But mostly, it is a question of practicing and trying to remember the waves and what cooldowns to use. If you do not succeed at first, just keep at it again and again. Suddenly, you will find yourself at wave 30!

Spell Strategy

  • If you can manage, try to use cheap spells like ability_monk_soothingmistsSoothing Mist as often as possible.
  • Use ability_monk_renewingmistsRenewing Mist, ability_monk_expelharmExpel Harm and ability_monk_forcesphereZen Sphere on CD.
  • Always place your ability_monk_summonserpentstatueJade Serpent Statue close to the group.
  • For heavier single-target damage use spell_monk_envelopingmistEnveloping Mist or a ability_monk_thunderfocusteaThunder Focus Tea charged ability_monk_surgingmistSurging Mist.
  • For heavier AoE damage, use ability_monk_chiexplosion_newChi Explosion in melee clump (ability_monk_healthsphereDetonate Chi for burst) and spot heal the rest (Do not use ability_monk_upliftUplift, since it has limited efficency).

Cooldown Strategy

Waves Endless

Enemy Strategy

  • Interrupt Hive-singers’ Sonic BlastSonic Blast.
  • Cast ability_monk_summontigerstatueXuen on the Hive-singers in the designated waves.
  • Flamecallers’ Invoke LavaInvoke Lava needs to be interrupted as soon as he spawns.
  • Interrupt Flamecallers’ PyroblastPyroblast as often as possible.
  • Dispel Aqualytes’ Aqua BombAqua Bombs before they explode.
  • Aqualytes do heavy tank damage, focus Oto when they’re up.
  • Focus ChompChomp-affected targets and get rid of the debuff as soon as it is up. Either with
    • ability_monk_soothingmistsSoothing Mist and spell_monk_envelopingmistEnveloping Mist.
    • A ability_monk_thunderfocusteaThunder Focus Tea charged ability_monk_surgingmistSurging Mist.
  • Conquerors do heavy tank damage, focus Oto when they’re up.
  • When Conquerors EnrageEnrage, use ability_monk_chicocoonLife Cocoon on tank on the designated waves.

Try to learn as much as possible about the waves until you can accurately predict their behaviour. That is when you’ll find yourself succeeding! Good luck :)
