The Capitals of Battle for Azeroth

Not everyone has been granted beta access to Bfa, yet, so there are many questions regarding the new capitals – Where are they? How big are they? How do they look? For those who still wonder about this, let me guide you around our new homes for Battle for Azeroth. There’s the Horde capital Dazar’Alor, together with the Alliance capital Boralus. Enjoy!

Dazar’Alor – Horde Capital

Dazar’Alor is located within the jungles of Zuldazar on the Zandalar continent (confusing, I know). The area is comprised of two big pyramids together with a large harbor. There are some questing areas within the capital itself, so don’t be surprised if you run into enemies if you take a wrong turn.

By looking only at the map, one gets the impression that the capital is quite small. This is of course an illusion of scale; the capital is huge. To give you an impression of how big it is, I made a video of me running through the capital. Have a look:

Renewing Mist Update and Tea Talk

There has been some official follow-up on the issue of Renewing Mist by the developers. Namely, a fix for the very common problem of overwriting them little buggers. I am currently drinking herbal mint tea in celebration and am in the mood for some tea talk.

Thanks for all the followup on Renewing Mist. In an upcoming beta build, we’re likely going to try having Renewing Mist automatically try to jump, if you cast a new one that would overwrite it.

Why thank you, oh glorious Sigma. Now we can stop competing with our active Renewing Mists for competitive targets, and not to mention, being able to shamelessly cast it on players who actually need our mastery heal as well! I love the smell of victory in the morning.

While I still think mistweavers could use some polish on beta, that was really my biggest issue and I’m incredibly happy that they are planning to fix it. Now I can finally relax and nag about smaller details. As it should be!

The Big Mistweaver Feedback Post 1.0

I have been on the alpha (build 26476) and tried the new mistweaver changes. I hope I’m catching the blizzard developers in one of their class-changing cycles right now, because there’s a lot of feedback I want to give – both good and bad! Here’s hoping that a developer sees this. I’ve tried to be clear and succinct in my feedback, but I’m still me so it’s longer than I planned. Oh, well!

General Impression

Overall, I’m positive about the changes and I think we’re going in the right direction for Mistweavers. So far, I’ve haven’t had the opportunity to raid heal on the alpha, but I’ve done plenty of dungeon healing, so my focus will probably be skewed in that direction in this post. I will go through both positive changes and some of the things I want improved.

New Alpha Build and Mistweaver Talents

Another wave of changes has hit the BFA Alpha. This time around, Mistweavers’ talent tree has been scrambled around, while two old talents are gone and replaced with two sparkling new ones.  Take a look below!

Mistweaver Changes

Talents:

  • Zen Pulse Removed
  • Rising Thunder Removed
  • Essence Well NEW
    • For every 6 sec Essence Font spends off cooldown, your next Essence Font may be channeled for 1 additional second.
      The duration of Essence Font’s heal over time is increased by 4 sec.
    • Note: Baseline channel is 3 sec, this talent pushes that to a maximum of 6 seconds (before haste). Once it’s off cooldown, you can see the tooltip changes the channel time. It takes 18 sec to hit the max duration, but it ticks up by the decimals (channel time 3.0 sec, 3.1 sec, 3.2 sec, etc until it hits 6 sec).
  • Rising Mist NEW
    • Rising Sun Kick heals all allies with your Renewing Mist, Enveloping Mist, or Essence Font for (20% of Spell power), and extends those effects by 2 sec.
  • Mist Wrap no longer allows Soothing Mist to be channeled while moving.

Teahouse Dungeon Guide Preview

With my very own alpha access, I can now test the new features whenever I get the urge. One of the most fun experiences is testing dungeons and since the dawn of Mythic+, knowing your ins and outs of the dungeons have never been more relevant. That’s why I have been writing new and fresh guides!

I actually have had Dungeons guides on the blog before, way back in Warlords of Draenor. My old guides looked something like this:

They took forever to make and I remember feeling very burnt out after creating those. Not to mention that there were several other guides that were much better and came out a faster pace. Lastly, it was Warlords of Draenor which didn’t have Mythic+, so they became obsolete very fast (unless you did Challenge Mode, which wasn’t very popular, especially for Mistweavers back then).

New Alpha Build and I Got in!

After killing Argus Mythic, I finally got access to the Battle for Azeroth alpha! Now I can check out all the changes by myself, and keep you freshly updated. Speaking of changes, a new build rolled out and it seems that Blizzard has turned its eye to healers. Down below are all the changes they’ve made to Mistweavers.

Mistweaver Changes

  • Effuse has been removed.
  • Mastery: Gust of Mists is no longer activated by Effuse.
  • Soothing Mist  is now an active ability:
    • Heals the target for (360% of Spell power) over 8 sec. While channeling, Enveloping Mist and Vivify may be cast instantly on the target.
  • Rising Sun Kick  now deals 115% of attack power damage, up from 106.86%.
  • Spinning Crane Kick  now deals 10% of attack power damage, down from 16.38%.
  • Thunder Focus Tea
    • No longer empowers Effuse.
    • Enveloping Mist: Instant cast and immediately heals for (130% of Spell power).
  • Vivify Causes a surge of invigorating mists, around the target, healing them and their 2 nearest injured allies for (75%) healing the target for (100% of Spell power) and all allies with your Renewing Mist active for (60% of Spell power).
    • Cost changed from 4.0% of base mana to 3.2% of base mana.
  • Invoke Chi-Ji, the Red Crane now heals for 30% of attack power, up from 22.113%.
  • Mana Tea duration has increased to 12 sec, up from 10 sec.
  • Summon Jade Serpent Statue now heals for 16% of spell power, changed from 50% of the Mistweaver’s Soothing Mist.
  • Way of the Crane no longer removes stun effects.
  • Paralysis now has a cooldown of 45 sec, down from 1 min.

Argus Mythic – Kill Video

My guild has finally taken down Argus Mythic! Hurray! I even managed to catch it on video, so everyone can enjoy watching our very, very messy kill. It may look like we were on the verge of wiping, but we knew we had it all along!

Such a pristine, clean kill. Executed with a clear-headed and calculated precision. Near perfect, I’d say.

Kidding, of course.

We were around wipe 480+ when we finally got the kill, after quite a few sub 10% wipes, including one on 0.8% (that was a happy moment – not). We have been at it for weeks, so I’m happy he’s dead and we can finally relax and do some casual reclears. I think everyone needs to recharge their batteries for Battle for Azeroth.

Heart of Azeroth – Monk Preview

In Battle for Azeroth, we will say goodbye to our artifacts. Instead we will get a neck-piece called Heart of Azeroth, which we will empower with Azerite much like we empowered the artifacts with artifact power. Here is a small preview of how the system works, with a sneak peek at a few Monk traits!

The Heart of Azeroth

  • The Heart of Azeroth
  • Your Heart of Azeroth is used for all specs! No need to gain Azerite to level each spec, it’s the same power progression.
  • Levelling the Heart through azerite will unlock traits in the three Azerite Armor slots (Head, Shoulders and Chest).
  • Higher levelled Heart unlocks more traits in the armor.
  • There are four tiers of traits in the armor tree. See concept image below:

  • Each unique armor piece has different traits to choose from, with higher level gear having better traits. These traits are predetermined.

More Updates in the Teahouse

I have been hard at work making more updates for the Teahouse. This time, I have reworked and updated the UI Hub. There are only a few more updates that are needed until the whole blog is as I want it!

New updates on the blog:

  • UI Philosophy – This page has been rewritten from scratch. Here I talk about my thought process when I’m creating my UIs, mostly when it comes to composition, disposition and tackling the problem with aesthetics vs practicality. I use my own UIs, old and new, as illustrative examples.
  • UI Inspiration – A page where I showcase all the different UIs I’ve done, plus some guest ones. Added my newest creations to the page.
  • UI Troubleshooting – This page has been updated with the latest and most common problems people ask me about – and the solutions! More images has been added for +5 in visual guidance.

New Alpha Build and Monk Races

A new alpha build came last night, and although there’s few changes to Mistweavers, Monks have gained two new races.  Here’s a small recap on the things that concern Monks!

Mistweaver Changes

Not many changes to Mistweavers, but it seems that Blizzard haven’t quite gotten to the healers specs yet. The damage classes and specs have first priority, and we’ll probably see the healer changes coming soon.

Monk Allied Races

New information on the Allied Races is trickling down the alpha mining. Two of the new races can be Monks, so here’s a small summary of the races and their racials.
