WeakAura School (3); Cooldown Aura

3 - Cooldown Aura

Hello and welcome to part 3 of my WeakAura School. Today I’m going to teach you how to build your own Cooldown Aura. I will use Revival as template, but the principles of making a cooldown aura remains the same for any cooldown. You can use this guide to make a cooldown aura for any spell you’d like. Let’s get started!

If you are unsure of how the WeakAura menu works, take a look in my basic tutorial of WA in part one of my guide.

The finished product will look like this, on and off cooldown;

Mistweaver Discussion – T18 & Class Trinket

I have good news and bad news, my dear readers. The good news is that we’ve got a very strong and fun 2 & 4-set bonus for patch 6.2. We also got an awesome class trinket with a cool effect! The bad news is that our set bonuses and our class trinket hate each other. They want us to do two completely different things with our rotations and sadly, we have to make a decision between them. There is a clear winner, which I will explain to you in this post, so hang tight. Let’s start with the basics. What are our bonuses and how do they work?

Tier 18 – Battlewrap of the Hurricane’s Eye

Head – Crit/Haste – Kormrok
Shoulders – Haste/Mastery – Xhul’horac
Chest – Mastery/Multistrike – Mannoroth
Hands – Haste/Multistrike – Soulbound Construct
Legs – Crit/Multistrike – Gorefiend

WeakAura School (2); Simple Proc Aura

2 - Simple Proc AuraHello and welcome to part 2 of my WeakAura School. If you haven’t read up on the Basics (Part 1) do so here.

In this part I’ll teach you how to build your own proc aura. A proc aura is a texture or icon that pops up on your screen to relay a type of information, for example that a certain spell is ready to be used or that your health is at a certain percentage. You can program it to trigger to anything you like.

WeakAura School (1); The Basics

1 - The Basics

Hello, and welcome to my WeakAura School. Here you will learn about the World of Warcraft addon WeakAuras2 and how you can build your own auras the way I do. You do not need any previous knowledge of the addon and it requires absolutely zero programming skills. The addon itself can be coded with a specific programming language, but I don’t use it and still can do very beautiful and sometimes rather complex auras.

In the first part of my WeakAura School series I will teach you the basics and the menu of the addon, which will pretty much prepare you to build any aura you like. It will also work as a reference guide! But I will follow it up by writing guides on how I build specific auras to show you the ins and outs of this very powerful addon.

Not so Zen – But Let’s Talk About It

I’m usually a very optimistic person and I like to look things on the bright side, but give me a moment here to go just a little cray-cray (yes, I said it).

For the past few days there hasn’t been that much activity on the Misty Teahouse. Not because I’m neglecting it, simply because I’m waiting for fun stuff to happen that I can talk about. Days pass, and it has been like watching paint dry. I have levelled my alts and I’m up to ten level 100 chars.

TEN level 100 characters… Let that sink in people.

Why, do you ask? Have I developed some kind of brain disease? No, that’s not the case. I like to have projects to keep my mind busy. When fun projects aren’t available, I turn to the mind-numbing ones just to make sure that I don’t start molding in a dark corner. And I do have several project on-going. I’m writing my WeakAura guide, which is fun but also requires a lot of energy and planning. I write a little everyday but I can’t bang my head against that project for a longer period of time without getting a concussion. I mean, it’s a large project. I don’t think I’ve explained this in full, but it’s not one WeakAura guide – it’s a full series! I start with the absolute basics and then work my way up to more advanced guides. I have a habit of always putting my ambitions sky high when I’m doing projects…
